Just a question.... I don't know. If the answer is yes , are the owners taking the hit ?

Nah, they have agreements in the CBAs about this kinda stuff. I'm not sure how MLB is gonna deal w/ it because this is preliminary for them but NBA/NHL salaries likely will be prorated.

Owners definitely taking a hit, just like other businesses. MSG is the stock symbol for the holding company that owns the Knicks, Rangers, MSG arena and a few other arenas and a bunch of cable networks and it has lost about 1/3rd of its value. Just a proxy, not many teams publicly traded.

My buddies son is a mlb player yes he getting payed but what he is being payed now but when season starts what he’s payed now will be deducted from what ever season is left and if season canceled won’t have to pay it back . That was as of last week when season was thought to start around memorial weekend but as of a few days ago all pushed back maybe June July. Honestly who knows I just know he wants to play .

When all the dust settles and we're looking at a totally different world , have to imagine that these huge salaries are going to disappear..

"[h=1]NBA will pay players their next paycheck on April 1, but nothing set in stone after that, per report"[/h]
...The NBA and its players are in a very difficult financial position. With games suspended amid the coronavirus outbreak, teams have no revenue incoming. Players have guaranteed contracts, though, so the two sides have to sort out how to approach this crisis in a manner satisfactory to all involved. While no long-term plan has been made, the NBA took a short-term step to appease the players on Friday. Teams will pay players their next scheduled check on April 1, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

"The uniform player contract, as detailed in MLB’s collective bargaining agreement, contains language specific to the financial ramifications of a national emergency. The clause in paragraph 11 of the contract effectively allows MLB Commissioner Robert Manfred to suspend player contracts in situations where government orders force the cancellation of games.

"PRO BASEBALL PLAYERS STILL GETTING PAID DURING CORONAVIRUS SHUTDOWN, SOME AT $4,775 PER DAY

...Baseball in America got suspended indefinitely during the coronavirus pandemic. That does not mean baseball players from both the minor and major leagues aren't still getting paid. While many people in America have lost jobs, or had their hours and pay reduced because of coronavirus, a minor league player whos contract is between $46,000 to $91,799 will receive $275 per day during the shutdown, according to the Associated Press.
<iframe name="fsk_frame_splitbox" id="fsk_frame_splitbox" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="" webkitallowfullscreen="" mozallowfullscreen="" allow="autoplay" style="box-sizing: border-box; border-width: initial; border-style: none; list-style: outside none none; margin: 0px; outline: none 0px; padding: 0px; -webkit-font-smoothing: antialiased; max-width: 100%; width: 602px; height: 0px;"></iframe>

In a 30-day period, that equals $8,250 for one month—not bad for those on the lowest pay scale. Some Major League Baseball (MLB) veterans will make $4,775 per day, or roughly $143,000 per month while in shutdown mode. Though it may be meager pay for some of the players who have salaries beyond $20 million, it's still a substantial amount of money compared to the "essential workers" battling coronavirus conditions as the pandemic gets worse by the day.

Though many baseball players will also see a cut in pay, the reduced salary is still more than lots of Americans bring home each month.

The AP obtained the numbers from MLB and the players association, which negotiated terms on how to maintain operations during the work stoppage.

Terms of the agreement state that baseball teams will collectively pay $173 million in work stoppage salaries in a period from March 26 - May 24, or an earlier date if baseball starts back before May 24.

Because they are morons. Most have shitty jobs because they dont know how things work. Every job has a boss. That boss creates a job for an employee. The employee works for the boss to make the boss and their own money. It's not a charity

I think once they figure out how many games they are going to play in the season is when they determined how much the players are to recieve.

I have friends who work for professional sports teams. They are all working from home, all getting paid in full, and are all nervous about keeping their jobs
